Ciara and Dillon

How We Met

Dillon and I met in college, at Oregon State (go Beavs!) over 5 years ago. I was at a party with some girlfriends at his fraternity. It had a carnival theme with tons of games and prizes, and was so fun! The top prize was a bottle of fireball which at the time was mine and my girl’s favorite drink (maybe explains why now I can’t stand i). I asked one of my friends in the fraternity who we had to flirt with to get the bottle as we showed up late, and didn’t have nearly enough winning raffle tickets from the games. He introduced me to Dillon who was the social chair of the house. We hit it off immediately and talked and laughed for hours at the party. We love this story of us meeting as it’s such an indicator of our relationship, “late, in love and a little drunk.” He is my very best friend and still the most fun person to be around. Oh and in case you’re wondering, I did bring home that fireball bottle.

Ciara and Dillon's Engagement in Maui, Hawaii

How They Asked

Dillon and I had been saving and planning a trip to Maui to celebrate our anniversary for quite some time. In the second half of our trip, we were joined by three other couples (friends of ours) and it was the most AMAZING week! A week full of fun and adventure with my best friend and our good friends. On our last night, we had all planned a small beach photoshoot (two of the other couples we were with do photography and videography). Dillon and I were posing for the camera and he kept turning towards me and telling me how much he loves me and how much I mean to him.

I just kept smiling at the camera and trying to turn him back towards it confused why he felt like this was the appropriate time to have a conversation🤦🏻‍♀️😂 although he’s used to my stubbornness and gently grabbed my shoulders to turn me towards him. Instantly after making eye contact, I knew what was about to happen. He got down on one knee and my heart was pounding so fast, tears were everywhere and I still just couldn’t stop smiling. He’s the most incredible man, my very best friend, and really knew how to give our trip the perfect ending💍
