How We Met
Steve and I met back in 2015. We both were accepted into the Disney College Program Internship for the summer and fall of 2015. We both started talking over Facebook due to both being accepted into the internship, and our mutual interest of all Disney related things. He started his internship in May of 2015, while my program did not start until later that summer, in late August. Unknown to him, my family planned a vacation in June to go down to Florida. I knew when we had previously talked that there was a special connection and that I wanted to get to know him better, and I prayed I would be able to see him and talk to him in person. Little did I know that when we were in Disney’s Magic Kingdom, I would be able, by pure chance, to see him. He was working in the Winnie the Pooh ride. My family and I made the last minute decision to ride that ride. When my family and I got to the front of the ride, he recognized me right away and gave me a big hug. I did not have much time to talk, but I figured that once I moved to Florida, he and I would be able to hang out more and see how our friendship can grow. After that day in the park, I counted down the days until I would be moving from Minnesota all the way down to Florida. As time went on he and I occasionally talked over Facebook, but he and I started to both see other people. When I finally moved down to Florida I was single and thought about messaging him just to say hi, but I quickly found out he had moved back to Pennsylvania by the time I moved down to Florida. He and I fell out of contact for a while, and we both did not think anything else after that. Fast forward to May 2016, one year from the first time we talked, I find out he moved back to Florida. He and I start talking again and become pretty fast friends, once more. Finally, in June 2016, we officially started dating. Our first date was going to see Finding Dory in the theater and then going to Disney’s Animal Kingdom. We ended the night by getting a late night meal at the burger joint, Steak and Shake. From there, the rest is history. He and I had our ups and downs but always managed to work through our problems.
How They Asked
After dating for two years, in October of 2018, Steve and I moved across the country to Pennsylvania, for a new career I was going to start, and to be closer to his family. He knew I missed Disney so much and knew that I would be sad to leave, so he promised we would go back on a vacation soon. Flash forward to late February, when I notice Steve was acting strangely. Not in a bad way, just differently. He would smile more and laugh more than usual. He then told me he booked our plane tickets to Florida, hotel reservations at Disney World, and rented a car.
I was so surprised I had not even realized that this trip was for something much bigger. I started to pack and get ready. By the time we got to Florida, I was so excited to go on as many rides as possible, I did not even think of what else might be going on. We went to the Magic Kingdom, the place where it all began, and Steve suggested we take some photos to celebrate where we had met.
We waited in line on Main Street to get our picture taken in front of Cinderella’s Castle, and once we got to the front of the line the photographer posed us together, took some pictures, and then I turned to Steve and asked him what pose we should do next. Then he got down on one knee and told me he loved me and asked me to marry him. I started crying and immediately said yes. After the crying stopped and I was able to compose myself, I turned and saw my best friend, her husband, and one of Steve’s best friends. We spent the rest of the day riding a few of our favorite rides and taking more pictures.
