How We Met
Chris and I actually met years ago, before we really remember meeting! But St. Patrick’s Day is our first memory together. We were at the parade with a group mutual friends, and I had to leave early (as always) to finish my report cards… so there was no real time to connect. I had seen Chris a lot throughout the next couple of months when we got together with our friends. It wasn’t until the FOLLOWING St. Patrick’s Day, however, that we really got to know each other. It was a smaller group of us at the parade so there was more time for he and I to get to know each other. That’s when we really connected. After the parade, Chris asked me out on a date, and the rest is history!
how they asked
Chris and I had been dating for a little over 2 and a half years. Neither of us had really dated anyone else in a long time, so this relationship was extra special. We had known each other for a few years, but it took a while for us to actually go out on a date. Once we finally did, we realized we probably should have done this a long time ago. We had so much in common. Football, exercise, ice cream, summer, hiking… Hiking was important. I wanted to take one last hike before the leaves fell and it got too cold. We had picked a spot and planned to bring sandwiches with us to have a little picnic. It was a chilly day, but there were no clouds in the sky, so the sun warmed us up. We were also going up a mountain, so that helped.
At the top, we found a secluded spot and sat down to eat lunch. We took some pictures as we always do. Then Chris told me to go to the far side of the mountain so he could take a picture of me with the scenery in the background. I turned around with my back to Chris. He took a few minutes (longer than normal actually). When he asked me to check out the picture on my phone, there I was, but there was a diamond ring in the picture as well! I was in shock. I was speechless! He got down on his knee with the ring in hand and asked me to marry him! Of course, I said yes!
