How We Met: Tony and I have been dating for 7 years! We met when we were 16 years old in Destin, Florida during our Spring Break. Our first conversation didn’t go so well because he was quite the show off. But, Tony being persistent as he is, came back to try again. After our second convo, I walked up to our condo, and told my best friend Veronica (who is my Made of Honor) “I think that I am going to marry that kid.” Two days later we went on our first real date, and it has been history ever since.
how they asked: I started the day off like any other day…woke up, got dressed, and went to work. My boss had told me that we had a very important conference call at 11:00 am. I went to his office at 10:50am to discuss any last minutes details for the conference call, but instead of grabbing his notebook he grabbed a card out of his briefcase and handed it to me. He said “read the card and follow the instructions.” The second I began reading the card I became overwhelmed with emotions!
The card reads “Date Night” because all along I thought that we were going to a nice dinner, and then a fundraiser that evening. So, I did as the card said and I headed to the Ritz! Once I arrived at the spa, and got into my robe, I was informed that I will be having a full body message, manicure, pedicure, hair treatment, and getting my hair styled to my liking….Needless to say I cried to myself in the corner of my dream bed.
Once my day of beauty was complete, I went to leave the spa and was handed another card.
This is where I lost it! I got so emotional that the sweet lady that had been assisting me all day had to walk me to my room. I really just needed someone to hug…she filled that void. Once I got to my room to say that I was blown away would be the understatement of the year! My man not only had all of my makeup, hair products, and toiletries, but he had the most gorgeous dress waiting for me with multiple shoe and jewelry options. It truly felt like I was living a fairytale.
After three long hours passed, it was finally time to head down to the lobby and meet my hunk for dinner. We walked outside, and he had a stretch limo waiting for us. We had dinner at the delicious Italian Barrel located in the French Quarter. After dinner, the limo picked us up and to my belief we were heading to the Marriott for the fundraiser, but I was very wrong. The limo pulled over in front of Jackson Square, and Tony looked at me and said “this is our next stop.” We got out, and he walked me to the front of the St. Louis Cathedral where he proposed to me in the center of a beautiful bed of rose petals! . It was an absolute dream!
After he proposed, our parents came running out of hiding, and the emotions that overwhelmed us were both priceless and irreplaceable!
In the middle of taking pictures, Tony informed me that we had to hurry and get back to the Ritz because we had a huge group of family and friends waiting for us. Tony and I both agree that the love we felt when we walked into the Davenport Lounge was the most overwhelming feeling of our lives.
All together, the only word that sums up this day for me is MAGICAL! He didn’t make my dreams come true because I couldn’t dream up something as perfect as this day was!
I love you Tony Rodrigue, and I can not wait to be your wife! Forever & Ever!
