How We Met
It was the summer after college graduation and my friends and I were looking for something fun to do on the weekend. We spontaneously signed up for a craft brew fest in our hometown. When we got there, one of my friends pointed out a cute guy in preppy coral shorts (enter Jack) and I dismissed her, not looking for boys and wanting to beat the lines for the brews! Later in the day, Jack and his friends made the move to come talk to me and my friends.
Jack and I instantly connected over being summer camp counselors, a weird job we both happened to share, and we hit it off from there! We spent the rest of the night together and made plans to grab breakfast the next day. Surprising ourselves, we both stuck to our breakfast plans and had the best “first date” over waffles, pancakes, and coffee. We strolled around my town after breakfast and when Jack pulled me into a flower covered alley for a sweet kiss I knew I was in trouble!
how they asked
Two years ago Jack was over in Europe on a business trip and flew me out to London for my birthday! Setting the bar pretty high! We constantly talked about how great that trip was and how we’d love to go back. For Christmas this year Jack blew me away with his gift – a trip to London! Little did I know what he had planned at that point.
Fast forward to Spring on our trip- we had a swanky dinner scheduled in the cutest area of Notting Hill late Friday night. Jack suggested we get all cleaned up and walk through Kensington Gardens prior to our dinner. In typical London fashion, it rained all day Friday as we toured the city, but Jack stayed stubbornly positive and assured me we should stick to our plan.
We couldn’t believe our luck when we walked into the Italian Gardens and the rain stopped and the sun was peaking through the clouds. Jack walked me to end of the gardens and suggested we take one of our usual touristy selfies and then he says “Hey babe let’s try a different pose” and gets down on one knee!
I was on cloud nine – my dream guy proposing to me on our dream trip opening a box to reveal the most sparkly ring I’d ever seen! It was magical! I obviously said yes! And then to top it off a woman approached us and introduced herself as our photographer – she captured the proposal and was ours for the next hour to take pictures all around the royal gardens and in front of Kensington Palace (Hi Harry and Meghan!).
After pretending we were royalty, we had a few beers at our favorite London pub, Churchill Arms, which was covered in spring flowers and FaceTimed our eager families. To top the evening off, we enjoyed a special dinner in Notting Hill and kicked off a trip full of celebrations. I felt (and still feel!) like a princess!
