How We Met
We met through Christina’s older brother! (And yes, her brother and I are still friends).
I fell in love with Christina the first time I met her 6 and a half years ago. She was very late to meet up with me for the first time and although I was annoyed initially, it all quickly went away the moment I saw her. I only planned to grab quick lunch with her but we winded up talking all afternoon and into the evening. We love outdoor adventure which includes hiking the calanques in Marseille, France, off-road mountain biking in Koh Samui, Thailand, and hiking the Amalfi Coast in Italy. We still celebrate our monthly anniversary, the 15th of every month.
how they asked
The proposal went down on her birthday. Since this was an outdoor proposal, I really hoped that the rain would hold up (luckily it did) and the ring would be done on time (was ready the morning of the proposal). Christina’s best friend helped lure Christina from our apartment to the Belvedere Castle where I was waiting for her. We had first stumbled upon the castle about 5 years ago when we were on a jog in Central Park. There were a few tense moments where we lost Christina (who unknowingly went to grab a late lunch and coffee…) but everything worked out in the end and she said yes!
I constructed the ring from scratch in collaboration with her best friend, Ruobing. After I acquired the diamond, I worked with Ruobing and a jeweler to design the perfect ring for Christina.
