How We Met
Christienne and I are both Swedish and one of our favorite places to visit is Solvang, California, a small Nordic town in the middle of wine country. The first time we visited we stayed in this beautiful, secluded cabin on a working farm. We immediently fell in love with its picturesque landscape and its similarity to a traditional Swedish Stuga. The Cabin’s porch overlooked a large pond filled with Trout. We loved to sit there with fika (coffee) in the morning taking in the scenery and listening to the sounds of humming birds whizzing by. It was here that I knew I would propose to her when the time was right.
how they asked
Fast forward 10 months and we were back at our cabin. I told her that we were meeting my family at a local vineyard and so we dressed for the occasion and headed out the door. I distracted her by pointing out a couple of overturned row boats sitting on the bank of the pond. When we got closer I walked her out to the end of the dock and took a knee.
What she didn’t know was that I hired a photographer to capture the moment and he was hiding behind a tree across the pond. I’ll never forget the look on her face as I pulled out the ring and asked her to be my best friend for the rest of my life. Needless to say, she said YES! I couldn’t have asked for a better setting then “our cabin.” We dream of growing old in a place just like this one day. We can’t wait to return to it next year to celebrate our wedding in Solvang on 9/8/18!
