how we met
Chris and I met through my friend Sam who works as a Radio City Rockette with me. Sam and Chris had worked together at an event and they began to talk about how he is from Long Island. As they spoke, she told him that she had the perfect friend to introduce him to who was from Long Island as well. At that point, I had never worked with Chris (who works as a security supervisor at Radio City Music Hall) so Sam introduced us while we were in the tech process for the Christmas Spectacular Starring the Radio City Rockettes. I knew when I met him that he was the one I would spend my life with, and it didn’t hurt that he was extremely handsome!
Throughout the Rockettes season that year, he was supportive and genuine. While he was working, he would try to watch a few minutes of every show – he was my biggest fan from the first day we met.
We have been dating for over two and a half years and he is even more supportive than ever and always helps me get through the busy New York Spectacular and Christmas Spectacular seasons. For both shows, we rehearse six hours per day, six days per week, so it is really important to have a good support system. Chris pushes me to be the best possible Rockette I can be and I am so thankful for that.
how they asked
As a Radio City Rockette, we do a lot of events and interviews throughout the year. While sitting home one day, I received a request for an interview and I was so excited to see that my three best friends were going to participate in the interview with me! Little did I know they were in on the plan! The night before my interview, Chris told me to paint my nails and looking back now, it makes me giggle to know that I never picked up on that clue! Heading to Radio City the next day was normal as always. I took the Long Island Railroad, hopped on the subway and walked to the stage door. I did my hair and makeup, changed into my sparkly costume and went downstairs. I wondered why my friends were acting so strange all morning, but again I did not pick up on what was about to happen. Once we got downstairs, we met with our media team, put our microphones on and began our interview discussing New York Spectacular. Mid-question, Chris walked out from behind a wall and I was in complete shock!
It wasn’t until he grabbed my hands that I fully understood what was going on. The best day of my life was finally here and it was perfect in every single way. Being in one of my favorite places, in my Rockettes costume, with my three best friends, as the most amazing man in the world asked me to marry him – I didn’t think it could get any better. Chris said all of the perfect things that I dreamed he would, and then got down on one knee and asked me to marry him.
With tears of joy in my eyes, I of course said yes and have never felt so happy in my entire life. I didn’t think it could get any better, but then both of our families walked out after watching our whole proposal from a spot across the room from our interview. I feel like the luckiest girl in the world that I get to marry Chris this March.
He is smart, funny and kind and my dream husband in every way possible. The fact that Chris contacted our team at Radio City and planned this huge engagement is something that will remain special to us for the rest of our lives. I cannot wait to marry him and spend the rest of our lives together.
