How We Met
Randomly one night, a friend of mine asked me if I wanted to go to a Game of Thrones watching party and to a movie with a group of friends that I had never met before. I agreed, and I am so happy I did! Juan was a part of that group of friends I had never met, and he immediately caught my eye from across the room at the watching party. We didn’t start talking to each other until later in the night when we were waiting in line for the movie, but as soon as we started talking there was an instant connection. We hit it off so well that we were whispering to each other throughout the entire movie. We didn’t exchange numbers, but that night as I drove home I remember specifically thinking, “Wow, I really liked that guy. I need to figure out how to see him again. Maybe find him on Facebook?” At the exact time I was thinking that, I looked down at my phone and saw that I had a friend request—from Juan! He also sent me a message asking if we could hang out again. It’s funny now because he tells me that he had to do some major detective work to find me on Facebook, like scrolling through multiple friends lists of his friends in hopes that they would know me. Ever since that night we have been completely inseparable.
how they asked
After two years of dating, I decided to go on a solo-backpacking trip across Europe. This was the first time we ever had to experience being apart, and after 3 weeks (which felt like a lifetime) of being separated he flew into Paris to spend the remainder of my trip with me. We had the most romantic day feeling so in love and so happy to be reunited. We added a lock to Love Lock Bridge, ate at a cute sidewalk Parisian café, toured the Louvre, and strolled down the Seine River to the Eiffel Tower.
Juan started taking pictures of me in front of the tower and asked a random couple to take our picture together. I started to realize he was going to pop the question because he whispered something to the couple and the woman got the biggest smile on her face and started crying! He got down on one knee and asked me to be his wife. I said yes (through tears), and the crowd around us actually started cheering!! It felt like a proposal straight out of a movie and I couldn’t have planned it better myself.
