How We Met
The road to Venuto…..
Looking back neither Joe or I imagined our lives to intertwine the way that they did. Joe and I found themselves ourselves searching for love on Tinder. We were not too hopeful to find genuine true love but we were soon proven wrong. After both swiping right, we texted for a few months getting to know one another. Joe was a loud South Philly Italian who loved Philadelphia sports and I was a sweet laid back girl from the suburbs. On October 31st a group of my friends and I attended the Penn State vs Notre Dame game in South Philadelphia. While Joe was nearby at a Halloween party.
During the game, I adventured into the city and then received a text and phone call from Joe to come to the Halloween party. I hopped into the taxi and went to meet Joe. Now first impressions…. Joe was dressed in a Ninja Turtle outfit and I was arguing and crying to the taxi driver. We then both sat out front of the South Philly home. We talked and took a few goofy selfies. After chatting for a little while, Joe decided to just go for it and kissed me. We then ventured into the party where he introduced me to all of his friends. As the night went on we enjoyed each other’s company laughing and getting to know each other.
It wasn’t long until I heard from Joe and we were looking to set up the first date. Within the next week, we went to a few restaurants and bars in South Philly and got to know each other even better. It was now November 21, 2015, and we had been on four dates. Joe thought it was time to meet a few of his friends at one of his favorite places Taproom on 19th. After enjoying the night with friends Joe and I headed back to his house. On the walk back Joe asked me if I’d be his girlfriend. I replied, really? Are you sure? Joe said, Yes! Then he asked me again and she finally said yes!
Joe and I were both excited and unsure of what the future had to hold. Over the next four months as a couple, we explored the city together and spent most of our time together. It wasn’t long until we both fell completely in love with each other. Over the next three years, Joe and I grew even more in love with each other celebrating anniversary’s and cherishing each other’s company.
how they asked
On January 19th, 2019 we took a trip of a lifetime and one we will never forget. Joe and I had always dreamt of seeing the Northern lights. We boarded the plane and flew to Iceland for 7 days.
The first day there we explored the beautiful city of Reykjavík, Iceland. That evening we drove into the Þingvellir National Park to view the Northern lights. When we arrived we searched for the lights we had been waiting to see. The sky was clear and you could see every single star. It was as if you were on top of the world and could see all of the night sky. Joe then whispered into my ear how much I meant to him. He asked me if I’d be his shining star forever. He then dropped onto his knee and asked me to marry him. In complete shock, tears of happiness filled my eyes. I leaned into Joe’s arms said YES!
We then watched the spectacular lights dance in the sky. We celebrated our engagement the next 6 days as we explored all that Iceland had to offer as future M.r and Mrs. When we arrived back to the United States we were welcomed with love from family and friends. We are very excited to start planning our wedding for the summer of 2019 and to start our forever lives together.
