How We Met
Dillon & I met in 2003 in church the year I moved from the Bay Area, California to the Central Valley. I was 14 and he was 13 at the time. We would sneak off to go talk during the youth group. I even danced with Dillon during my 18th birthday celebration. I went on to nursing school and he went off to UC Davis. Later on, we reconnected as adults, and then we decided to start a relationship.
At the beginning of our relationship, I knew Dillon would be going away to grad school in Berlin. We decided to try the long-distance thing and it was such a fun time in our lives!
We got to travel around Europe as he was getting his MBA. While he was going to school in Germany, I would go back and forth to visit him and times I was in California, I was working as a registered nurse.
How They Asked
December 7, 2019 – Dillon had arranged a photoshoot in Old Town Havana for our last day in Cuba. It was typical of us to take pictures together on our vacations.
We have been to almost 30 countries together and each time we would usually lug around our camera and stand bright and early to get some shots. It was nice that we got a photographer for a change.
We walked through Havana taking pictures, hugging and kissing and smiling. In the middle of the photo shoot, the photographer told Us to “do something romantic.” I was thinking to myself, WTH, we’ve been super lovey-dovey the whole time. It was then that Dillon got down on one knee and asked me to marry him. 🥰 Of course, I said “yes.”
