How We Met
Tyler and I are both from the same small town of Sparta, WI. We went to the same school and were friends for quite a while before he started to actually talk to me everyday. He wouldn’t stop asking me to go on a date with him until I said yes, so I finally caved in and we went on our first date to Buffalo Wild Wings. After dinner, he took me star gazing in his field out by the woods behind his house where we talked for hours about anything and everything. It was like a moment you would’ve watched in a movie.
I knew from that night on that Tyler would be the one that I would spend the rest of my life with. We have now been together for over six years and have shared a lot of memories together. We have had our fair share of ups and downs along this journey of ours together, but it has truly been such a great, healthy relationship full of love, happiness and laughter throughout our six years together. We started as friends and now we are best friends dating. There is no greater feeling than being in love with your best friend..
how they asked
I have been patiently (and not so patiently) waiting for Tyler to pop the question, but little did I know that my wait would end on December 25, 2016. We were at our last Christmas of the day, which happened to be my family Christmas. My family and I were all finishing up with dinner and getting ready to open up our presents in the living room. There was a little downtime, so I decided to go into the bathroom to freshen up a little bit. As soon as I walked out of the bathroom, I heard immediate silence. Once I got around the corner, I learned why it was so quiet. There Tyler was, down on one knee with a ring box in his hand and our yellow lab, Diesel, next to him with a sign around his neck that read “Mommy, will you marry daddy?”
My mouth instantly dropped and my heart immediately started to race. After asking several times, I knew this wasn’t a joke and it was completely real. Of course I said yes!
The ring Tyler bought was more than I ever knew I even wanted and he even picked it out all by himself! He had the ring for two months and made sure to ask for my dad’s permission, he just had to wait for the perfect moment to ask me to marry him.
He couldn’t have picked a better moment to ask than one that was right in front of my family, as he knows how important my family is to me. My dad was the only one who knew, so to say that I was the only shocked person in the room is an understatement. I will never forget that moment and how I felt. Tyler truly blew it out of the park with our proposal and the ring that he picked out for me.
