How We Met
We met when we were both graduate students on our clinical rotations in New York City. We were friends and first but quickly we realized there was something more there.
I stayed in New York City to finish school and Robb had a few more rotations to finish so we did the long-distance thing for a few months but after graduation we got our first apartment together in New York City and where our love and relationship continued to grow!
How They Asked
Robb proposed during my Birthday trip to Paris. Robb and I were used to taking selfies on all of our vacations, except during a tour of a temple in Thailand when our tour guide took pictures of us. We really enjoyed the break from all the selfies, so Robb came up with the idea of hiring a photographer in Paris to take great pictures (secretly intended as a proposal session) while also allowing me to prepare with outfit ideas.
I honestly started to suspect he was going to propose in Paris, but he did a great job of finding ways to keep throwing me off. He truly made me believe it wasn’t happening. Our photoshoot wasn’t until the last day in Paris starting with a morning session and meeting again for an evening session.
During the morning session we told the photographer it was Robb’s idea to do the photoshoot, she began to get excited however surprised when I told her “no it’s definitely not a proposal.” After the morning shoot, we walked around the Louvre and the streets of Paris. We got ready for the night shoot and it started raining (a typical occurrence in our travels). Robb asked if he should bring his glasses and I told him I think he looks good either way, but do what he feels is most comfortable.
I didn’t know at the time that it was his trick to get the ring out of his bag mid photoshoot. At 9 PM during our evening session the Eiffel Tower began to illuminate, when I looked back at Robb, he was on one knee! It was so incredibly romantic. The photographer and I were both in shock, but luckily she quickly overcame that to be able to snap some great photos. I said YES!!!
