How We Met
I’m a teacher and James is a personal trainer. A lady that I taught with happened to train with James at the time. She was determined to set us up. She gave him my number and we have been together ever since.
The crazy thing is about three weeks after she introduced us, she ended up leaving the school I was at and stopped training with James because of finances. We probably would have never met if those three weeks would have passed without her ever trying to set us up!
How They Asked
Anyone who knows me knows that I LOVE Christmas time so this proposal is better than I could have ever imagined! My dad passed away six years ago, so it was extremely important to me for James to ask my mother for her blessing since he couldn’t ask my dad. Prior to the engagement, James not only asked my mom for her blessing but got down on one knee to ask her for her blessing.
My family came down for Thanksgiving because they live in Kansas and I live in Texas. My sister has cerebral palsy so she doesn’t travel often. This was the first year they came down for Thanksgiving, so it was already a special week. The Saturday after Thanksgiving, James and I decided to take my family and his mom to Enchant Christmas at Arlington Park ( which is where the Rangers played during baseball season before the new stadium was built). Enchant Christmas has the largest light maze in the world! James had a secret plan with my family about the proposal the whole time! There is a huge Christmas tree in the middle of the maze. James asked to take a picture in front of the Christmas tree. Little did I know, that he would be getting down on one knee and asking me to marry him! It was extremely special. James loves the fact that the tree was actually located where the pitchers’ mound would be during a game. Not only was it the proposal of my dreams but my family was able to be a part of one of the most important moments of my life. It was definitely a magical night!
