Chelsea and Jacob

It was a cold, wintery day in the 7th grade at Madison County Middle School. I was outside for our 30 minute break when I saw this blonde beauty walking. I knew I had to do something because she was HOT! Me, being an immature 12 year old didn’t really know how to talk to a girl so I went up to her and said, “Hey, do you like my hat?” She jokingly said no and we both smiled and walked away. I felt awkward and thought I didn’t stand a chance with the prettiest girl in middle school. She was a star cheerleader and I was a bench warmer on the basketball team, so over the next few days I got to see her a lot after school and could never get my mind off of her. Then on January 13th, 2007 I told myself I couldn’t stand it anymore, I had to see if I had a shot with her. Not in person but on myspace (lol) I searched the name “Chelsea Strickland” and there she was right on my computer screen. I was so scared to message her since we didn’t really know each other and didn’t want to seem like a creep. I gained the courage and finally messaged her. I confessed that I liked her and wanted to know if she would like to go out with me. She said yes and I was so extremely happy. The first few months were extremely weird because I don’t think we said a word to each other in person for almost two months! Now, 8 years later here we are spending everyday together and we couldn’t be anymore happy. (Unless we won the lottery.) We are best friends as well as lovers. We are pretty much inseparable and spend every single day together.

About two months ago I decided that I was ready to ask the same girl I met in the 7th grade to be my better half and spend the rest of her life with me. I didn’t realize it was going to be so hard to ask her. I took her to Atlanta Botanical Gardens to propose because it is absolutely gorgeous there! We do a photo shoot every year so she had no idea. I set the camera up on the tripod and asked did she want to take a picture except I changed it to video mode.
I was so extremely nervous and rehearsed many times in the mirror but when the moment came I was lost for words. It worked out in the end though because she said, YES! It’s about damn time.”
