how we met
We met in New York City on a dating app called Hinge. We dated for a few months at first, and things got serious after Chelsea was accepted into graduate school and found out that she would be staying in New York after she graduated college. Not long after, we moved in together in Brooklyn, where we lived for many happy years before re-locating to Chelsea’s hometown, sunny Miami, FL in 2019.
how they asked
We had always wanted to go to Paris as a couple. After ten months of long-distance dating, Gideon moved to Miami in July 2019, and shortly after we finally got the chance to go on our dream vacation. After a fun day of crepes, shopping, and walking through the city, we returned to our hotel where we got ready to go out to a nice dinner. Before we left the room, Gideon asked me to sit with him on the sofa where he pulled out a ring box from behind a pillow and asked me to marry him. Totally surprised, I said yes! After calling family and friends to share the good news, we went to our first meal as an engaged couple at a Michelin Star restaurant where Gideon arranged for a special celebratory tasting menu. After dinner, we ran through the streets of Paris to watch the Eiffel Tower twinkle. A little out of breath, we made it just in time, looked up and watched full of admiration, excited for our future together.
