How We Met
Brad and I met almost 5 years ago in Israel, we happen to both be there on Birthright (Jewish heritage trip to Israel). I first saw Brad while our groups were camping next to each other at the Bedouin Tents in the Negev Dessert. I went about my night with my friends until one of the guys in his group started playing the guitar. Contrary to belief, people in Southern California listen to country music. So when I heard that guitar I had to walk over and ask him to play me a country song. He only knew one song though, Wagon Wheel. But it just so happened that Brad loved country music as well (I mean, he is from North Carolina) and also liked Wagon Wheel (who doesn’t??). We sang along and once the song was over we began talking and getting to know one another. After talking for hours, we exchanged numbers and kept in touch throughout the entire trip. Sadly, we never ran into each other again. Fortunately for us, we had to fly into New York before heading home. He had previously planned a birthday trip there with his friends and was staying there for a couple nights. Not knowing if I was even staying in NYC, he invited me to meet up with him. So obviously that meant I HAD to find a way to stay in New York, even if it was just for one night. All I kept thinking was “I need to see this guy again”. Since the beginning, we have always had an unexplainable connection to one another. We met up in New York, then headed back to our homes, but always stayed in touch. We spoke to each other daily. Soon we began traveling back and forth from California to North Carolina (and vice-versa) and even to other states just to explore and spend time together. About a year and a half later, I moved to North Carolina to officially be with Brad.
How They Asked
We had originally planned this trip to Italy for January 2018, but at the end of 2017 we bought our first home and closed too close to the trip so we rescheduled for October 2018. And good thing we did!
The day started with a beautiful tour of Capri and Anacapri. It was unlike anything I have ever seen before. Once we got back to the dock, we wandered around and went shopping in the small local shops around the island and had lunch right on the water. The afternoon in Capri was coming to an end and we were about to head back to Sorrento to continue the rest of the day. But like any other woman, I needed to use the lady’s room. As I was walking out Brad asked me if I wanted to take a picture. He hates pictures and I had told him I wanted at least ONE good picture on this trip so when he offered I couldn’t say no.
He asked a lady sitting at the restaurant to take our picture. I felt bad because she was about to eat her lunch and told him to have the waiter do it instead. He insisted on her taking our picture, so I just went along with it because at least he was willing to take a picture at all! I was getting ready for the picture when he leaned in, kissed me, and told me that he loved me. Next thing I know he is down on one knee asking me to marry him. What was already a perfect day turned into a day I would never forget!
