Central Park Marriage Proposal
How We Met: Before we ever met, I stumbled upon Omokhuwa’s photo on Facebook while pursuing a friend’s photo album. She looked so innocent and beautiful and I had to get more information about her. I asked my friend about her but nothing came of it. Flashing forward, one bright summer afternoon I was visiting an old family friend for the weekend and she wanted to quickly drop off birthday cards for her friend and she wanted me to take her there before I headed home. I hesitated a bit and immediately she was quick to remind me that her friend is the younger sister to someone whom I had asked her about previously. I agreed to take her with the hopes of finally meeting this beautiful girl. We eventually got there and I waited outside in my car.
A few minutes later, my family friend came outside with a look of disappointment.
Apparently my now fiancé, didn’t feel comfortable coming outside because she didn’t feel she looked presentable. She’d been busy all day cooking and prepping for her sister’s birthday party. The fact that she refused to come outside initially was quite a shocker but she eventually decided to come outside having been convinced by someone else – although I always teased her that she probably peeped out the window and noticing what she could miss out on me, she decided to come out – and we got introduced. The rest is history.
how they asked: Omokhuwa does not live in New York so when she visited, I wanted to take her somewhere that was truly an icon in New York. That is how I decided to propose in Central Park. It was a beautiful Spring day and I told her that I wanted to show here around the park. When we approached the Bethesda Fountain I had a String Quartet set up. I walked her over to the quartet and they began to play our song, “Breathless”.
She was so taken aback but even more blown away when a stranger walked up to her and handed her a bouquet of flowers. Next 2 people unrolled a banner that says “Omokhuwa, you leave me breathless every day. Will you marry me?”. I got on my knee and proposed and she said yes. It was well planned with myself and Proposal Planners, The Heart Bandits and she loved every moment of it!
