Where to Propose in The High Line in NYC

How We Met

I met Stephen shortly after I moved away from my hometown for the first time. Dating apps were very new and looking back I’m a little embarrassed to admit it, but we can credit Tinder to us meeting. His parents lived in my hometown, so he stood out. Although we were pretty opposite, we realized we pushed one another outside our comfort zones to grow into better people. We fell in love pretty quickly and almost five years, six moves together (one across the country), two dogs, and so many amazing memories later…he proposed while in NYC on The High Line! And the rest is history…

how they asked

Stephen’s brother and sister-in-law live in NYC, so he planned a visit to see them. On our second day, we had a very fancy dinner planned, but spent the day shopping in SoHo, brunching in Chelsea, and sight seeing! I figured if he were to propose it would be at a fancy dinner, at the Top of the Rock, or something else more predictable. We decided to walk The High Line and enjoy the beautiful views and great weather. Stephen grabbed my hand and he was shaking…yet it still didn’t click. He kissed me and told me how much he loved me and how he couldn’t imagine life without me. Expressing himself so openly is not like him, so I started crying and knew what was about to happen! He got down on one knee and asked me to be his wife! I couldn’t even get the “YES” out of my mouth because I was so overcome with joy and excitement! Before I knew it, I had the most beautiful ring ever on my finger and a crowd had gathered and was cheering for us as Stephen yelled “She said yes!”. Stephen then pointed out our photographer who had been following us to capture the special moment. We celebrated the rest of the weekend in NYC. It’s been one month today and I am still on cloud 9!
