How We Met: Our love for one another is undeniable. We met in late 2009 and became inseparable not only because of the laughter we shared but because we immediately trusted each other. It was a breath of fresh air for both of us who had never felt that sort of connection before. We are truly soul mates and are happy to say that after over three years of dating, buying our first home, and experiencing many travels we are now engaged to be married in Santorini, Greece this coming May.

After traveling for three days through Barcelona, Spain in the freezing rain we were determined that nothing not even soaking wet Tom’s would ruin our trip. On our early morning flight to our next stop Rome, Italy we were exhausted and made a pact to check-in, take a nap, then venture out for a late lunch. Well that did not work out as planned because upon arriving at our hotel at 8am we were told that we were not able to check-in until 2pm. The gentleman at the front desk directed us to a unisex restroom where we could “freshen up” so we did just that and went about our day of course starting with two iced double espresso cappuccinos. We began with staring aimlessly at our itinerary and then fist pounding to an agreement that we were going to tackle as many destinations as possible that day. They included the Spanish Steps, Trevi Fountain, Pantheon, and the Piazza Navona. Lets add that for every place we planned on visiting Cathy had written a detailed description so Matt knew exactly what it was and what traditions if any were supposed to be done there. So on our second stop which was the Trevi Fountain nothing excited Cathy more than to do the “coin toss.” If you don’t know the famous legend here it goes.. You must toss a coin with your right hand over your left shoulder, with your back to the fountain. If you throw one coin into the Trevi Fountain you will ensure a return trip to Rome, two coins means fall in love, and three means you’ll find love and marry. We nudged our way right next to the fountain and both took turns throwing our coins and of course taking as many pictures as Matt could possibly stand. Just as we were discussing our next destination Matt confidently got down on one knee in front of what felt like a million people and said, “I think this is the perfect place to ask you to be my wife.” Shocked as ever Cathy ignored his proposal and stared at the ring in awe until he anxiously said, “well you didn’t answer.” Cathy screamed, “YESS” and he stood up and kissed her to roaring cheers from the crowd. By writing this we are are reminising and being taken back to that moment and nothing makes us happier than thinking about spending our lives together and not to mention THE most romantic proposal a girl can dream of!

Our journey continued with visits to Florence, Tuscany, Positano and Capri on the Amalfi Coast. This trip was indeed the trip of a lifetime and we made memories that we will cherish for many years to come.
