Cat and David
How We Met
We met our first day of freshman year in high school. I had just transferred schools and was sitting alone in Spanish class, when this goofy boy with a bowl cut sat in front of me and introduced himself as Pablo (his Spanish class name) and we were the best of friends from there on out. It wasn’t until our senior year we started dating and after graduation we moved from Alaska to Oregon together.
how they asked
I’m a wedding photographer myself, so Ashley and I had been wanting to trade shoots since the summer. Her and I had planned this entire styled shoot with David and myself. I figured after 7 years it was about time we had some professional photos! We drove out towards Sisters, Oregon since David and I both love the area. Luck was on our side and we actually got some beautiful sunshine after days of rain.
We shot some pictures in these beautiful grey trees and then decided to continue down towards Black Butte and find a good spot to set up the rest of the shoot. Once we set up, Ashley said she wanted to grab a few quick pictures of us in the woods with the sun setting. I asked him a question and was wondering what was up when he didn’t answer me.
As I realized what was happening, he finally got to one knee and he told me it had been a wonderful 7 years. It was such a funny moment- I had been balancing on my heels and immediately sunk into the ground, he couldn’t get the ring box out of his pocket and then almost dropped it as he opened the box upside down, and then didn’t hear me the first time I said yes- it all left us both just laughing.
I told him again of course and we were both shaking as he tried to put the ring on. We had been talking about it for years, but the moment was so perfect I think we both were in shock! I just kept saying ‘thank you’ repeatedly and couldn’t stop laughing and smiling for the rest of the night!
