How We Met
Carlton and I met back in 2014 in college. We both are from different parts of Texas and the universe had us meet all the way in Florida. We attended Full Sail University. We became a team working on projects together and when we weren’t in school, we were outdoors fishing, shrimping, and even gator hunting. I was not a very outdoorsy girl, coming from the city. But Carlton, he grew up in the country and had been hunting since he was a little boy. After we graduated, we came back to Texas.
How They Asked
We have been together for 6 years. I never really pushed for marriage. We were living in God’s time and didn’t want to rush anything. Of course, we, or he, would get teased with “when are y’all gonna get married already” jokes. But we laughed them off. Up until about a year ago is when we really started talking about my “dream ring.” I always knew I wanted a pear shape. No halo. Simple and classy band. We met with a jeweler twice. I tried on an oval shape and almost changed my mind, but after seeing my ring today, I’m so glad I didn’t. Oh, the proposal. My gosh.
I have been dreaming and pinning all the dream proposals I could ever want. And Carlton surpassed all of it. Our best friends, Brent and Vanessa, asked us to join them on a trip to Amangiri in Utah. Best place in the US. The best way to explain it looked like mars. It was amazing. Well fast forward to November 8, we had plans to go to horseshoe bend, which is on the border of Utah and Arizona. The most amazing view. We looked everywhere for the “perfect spot” to take the cutest best friend pics. And I would say we found it! All I remember is after Carlton and I got our cute pics, he kisses me and starts to bend down on one knee.
