Cassidy and Zachary
How We Met
Zachary and I met in high school at the ripe age of 15 and 17. Though Zack always tells me the story of when he first saw me my freshman year, his junior,(not very far from where my grandfather first saw my grandmother at the same high school over 50 years before!) and he knew then that he was going to get to know me someday.
Fast forward a year and we crossed paths through mutual friends! After hanging out for 4 consecutive days over October break he planted a kiss on me and I was hooked! It was such a great thing to be able to know someone as a great friend before realizing how much you start to become in love with them. We learned that each other has a crazy amount of siblings (him:8, me:7) and that we are the only children between our parents ! We have no full blood siblings but they are our best friends and mean the world to the both of us. That was just the start of similarities we have with each other. We feel so fortunate to have found someone that makes you feel as though this love is familiar, like we’ve been here before. From the get go he has been my biggest cheerleader, greatest protecter and dearest friend. We have been together for 8 years and have been long distance for most of it.
That’s what makes our engagement that much more exciting because FINALLY in 2018 we will make our first milestone together and move north of where we live to begin our adventure. :) We cannot wait.
how they asked
My friend Brooke Shannon who owns Brooke Shannon Photo asked me if Zack and I would like to model for a shoot in Yosemite. Little did she know that our favorite place in the world is Yosemite National Park since the first time we went together in 2014 to celebrate our 5 year anniversary. Coincidentally, we met with Brooke in the park on October 14 for the shoot exactly 3 years to the date from the time we were there in 2014! It was already a magical, nostalgic weekend to begin with but when it came time for our sunrise shoot at Glacier Point that Sunday little did I know how magical it was really going to be.
Picture this: a sundress, bare feet and 40 degree weather 7,000 feet up. Just as the sun was breaking to light up the glaciers and mountains that surrounded us, Zachary reached into his pocket and asked me to marry him.
The moment was so surreal that I kept giggling and smiling and ultimately had to be asked, “so is that a yes?” haha! He could have not planted us in a more special setting. I thought I loved Yosemite before, but now it is truly the most special place in my heart.
