How We Met
Kevin and I met at Liberty University. He was a transfer student, I was a brand new freshman. We met through a mutual friend at a birthday party. A few weeks later, a group of us went on a hike that he was going on as well. We talked a lot more on the hike and got to know eachother. We then all became a close friend group, but little did I know that he was interested. After becoming good friends, about 2 months later, he told me that he was interested in me and wanted to pursue a relationship. He was older than me, Kevin being 24 at the time, and I was only 19. I did not know how this would go at first, but shortly after I was interested to see what would happen. We started dating, and went into a long distance relationship over the summer. Coming back for the school year, our relationship was stronger than ever. We knew marriage was our goal in the near future, as we now understood what it meant to say “when you know, you know.”
how they asked
The day of the proposal, Kevin had told me to clear my schedule, and we were going somewhere to celebrate our anniversary early. He told me what to bring, as he was planning the entire day out. I was excited, and did not have to worry about anything! We went to Charlottesville, VA. for our first time together. We did all the normal date day things, walked around the stores and explored. He had told me he wanted to take me to this spot he had found, to see the sunset that day. So, we grabbed an early dinner and left. Everything was completely normal to me until he had me change clothes twice before getting there (to get me ready for the pictures/video I didn’t know was about to happen).
We got to the mountain and had just a little bit of a walk up there. He was talking to me and stumbling a little bit as he was getting nervous. We finally hit the peak of the mountain, with a gorgeous view. We walked down a little bit and turned a corner where I saw the rose petals and candlelit pathway. That’s when he told me how much he loved me and asked me to marry him. I just couldn’t believe it was real and actually happening.. I said “YES!! Of course!”
After that, all of my best friends from GA ran out from hiding behind a rock, and surprised me! A little later he had set up a huge engagement party for us, and my family had driven up from GA as well, along with all of our friends who were there to celebrate!! It was the best day yet, and I had no idea the entire time!!
