How We Met
Jordan and I met at a local rock band’s concert in Bluffton, IN. I was with my mom and he was with his parents – it was a family affair! My mom and I were dancing and singing at the front of the stage and all of a sudden a very handsome guy came up next to me and started to sing along with me. There aren’t that many younger people that know a lot of rock and roll from the eighties and nineties so I was intrigued that he knew the words to all of the songs being played. As the night progressed we sang and danced together until it was almost over. During one song we snuck away and learned each other’s names and chatted briefly. Jordan asked me if I would want to go on a date sometime and I said yes. He got my phone number and texted me two days later.
The rest is history.
how they asked
Almost a year prior to the proposal, I decided that I wanted to take a trip with Jordan to New York City. We decided to go for five days, with our first day being on my birthday. New York is my favorite place in the entire world. After planning for the trip and counting down the days, it was finally time to start our vacation. We spent our first day having brunch, shopping, and spending time in Central Park. For my birthday dinner we went to The Russian Tea Room. We ordered wine and ate a delicious meal. Jordan asked me how my birthday was going so far and I said that it probably couldn’t get any better, but I was wondering what he had gotten me for my birthday. I had been teasing him throughout the day asking him when he was going to give me my birthday present and he wouldn’t tell me. He replied “Sorry Cassandra, I didn’t really get you anything for your birthday this year…” I was disappointed but understood since we had just bought a house and had a lot going on. He then said “But, I did get you this” he pulled a little box out of his coat pocket and opened it. I saw the diamond ring and honestly couldn’t completely process what was happening. I started crying and saying “seriously?”. He asked me to marry him and I said YES. He slipped the gorgeous ring on my finger and kissed me. I continued to cry and still couldn’t believe it! We called our family and friends and shared the good news with them. After dinner we went to The Empire Hotel Rooftop Bar and had a drink and took in the beautiful view of Manhattan. The bar even sectioned off apart of the rooftop so we had our own little intimate space to celebrate and enjoy the moment. I literally felt like I was in a movie. It was completely perfect.
