How We Met: Anthony and my mom worked together. When I first met Anthony inside the bank they worked at, he was shy and reserved. He said 5 words to me, “Hello, Nice to meet you.” Apparently, he had the butterflies from first sight! Throughout that time of my mom and Anthony working together, I got to know him solely through the funny stories that my mom would tell about her work day with him and occasionally as I visited my mother at work. Anthony and I ended up becoming great friends prior to dating. He helped me through some difficult times and was always there by my side when I needed him. He was my best friend! We knew the connection between us was so strong, we slowly took it to the next level. I guess you can say the rest is history!
how they asked: It was exactly two weeks after my Father passed away. It was also the day my parents got married, 38 years prior. We had plans of going to my parents favorite steak house to celebrate their beloved marriage. Prior to dinner, Anthony had invited me to an “event for work” at the Morikami Japanese Gardens in Delray Beach Fl. I got all dressed up and pulled up to Morikami, only to see Anthony greeting me at the entrance. He looked so incredibly handsome in his suit and his smile went from ear to ear. The gardens looked stunning as we made our way past a beautiful waterfall and crossed a stone bridge. He stopped half way across the bridge and said “Casey, there is no event here today.” He reached into his pocket. That’s when I realized what was happening. After some loving and genuine words, he got down on one knee, and asked me to be his wife. Through shock, tears and laughter, I happily accepted! My mother then walked over and it brought me such joy to know that on her 38th wedding anniversary to her late husband, she was able to witness her only daughter accept a marriage proposal from the gentleman that she used to spend every day with at work. I know my father was there too, looking down on us with all his blessings. It was the happiest day of my life!
