How We Met
After two of our mutual friends from church told us we were meant-to-be, we decided to give it a try. Our love quickly grew after long talks about our families and our faith, and of course after I (Caroline) saw his dance moves.
Our first official date was to a wedding where I caught the bouquet. The myth is true I suppose! From there we grew the strongest and sweetest bond built on laughter, dancing in the kitchen, and many other sweet moments that led to us committing to forever.
And the rest, in our opinion, is the best history ever written…
How They Asked
While visiting Nashville, Tim’s brother-in-law, who is the photographer for the Tennessee Titans, invited us to the beautiful Hermitage Hotel for a “Football Banquet”. Little did I know that the event was all a set-up for the proposal.
As we walked into the hotel, I noticed background music playing that I recognized, but didn’t give much thought to. A few seconds after walking into the lobby, Tim’s dad walked around the corner in a suit with a red rose. I was shocked! He was supposed to be in Knoxville, our hometown, and at that moment I realized this was no banquet.
Tim led me to the other side of the lobby, where my brother was waiting with another rose, tears streaming down his face. I think, at this point, we were all crying! Tim then led me up the stairs, when it hit me that the music I recognized earlier was my dad playing the piano. With tears flowing as he played, he gave me a smile and handed me my last rose. A moment I will never forget.
Tim then led me to the center of the room where roses were spread across the floor. There he expressed his love for me and told me he wanted to grow old with me. He, then, got down on one knee and asked me to be his wife. I told him absolutely, yes!
After that our parents and siblings all came out of hiding to celebrate, cry and gush over the ring! Then Tim had planned a family dinner and an engagement party with our friends who came in from all over the country. It was the sweetest day of my life… thus far!
