Mike and I met when we were at college at West Virginia University. I was a sophomore and he was in his senior year. My sorority, Alpha Omicron Pi, was holding their annual spring philanthropy in which each member had to be the coach for another fraternity or sorority. I chose the fraternity Phi Kappa Psi because I did not know any of their member and wanted to get to know some of them. I attended their chapter meeting to introduce myself and explain our philanthropy and later that night I received a text message from their philanthropy chair saying one of their brothers wanted to take me to their date party that Saturday. I agreed, it was Mike, and the rest is history!
Mike and I had planned a trip to Nee York to watch our alma mater, WVU, play in the Gotham Classic at Maddison Square Garden. Little did I know, he had been planning on proposing the whole time. Saturday morning we met all of our friends at the Christmas tree at Rockefeller Center to take pictures. They were all in on it except me. When it was our turn with the photographer we stepped up and had our first picture taken. Then Mike turned to me and got down on one knee and asked me to be his forever. I said “I already am, but YES!”
