How We Met
Tyler and I met our sophomore year of college at Rollins in Winter Park, FL. He was in a fraternity and I was in a sorority and we started talking one night at a Greek life event. We talked and hung out for a couple of months and then we “officially” started dating in March of 2012.
Tyler studied abroad in Spain the fall after we got together and when we graduated I moved back home to St. Pete and Tyler stayed in a town near our college. The years that followed we moved a lot, almost once a year. Finally, 2 years ago we settled in my hometown of St. Pete.
How They Asked
Earlier this year we had a trip planned to Vancouver for our 8 year dating anniversary and unfortunately we had to cancel (I later learned Tyler had been planning to propose on that trip). In May he decided he wanted to do it in Connecticut. I’m originally from there, Tyler went to boarding school there and we have a lot of family and friends that still there so it’s a special place for us. He knew he wanted it to be somewhere on the water and about 2 weeks before our trip he enlisted the help of my best friend who lives there.
When we arrived in Connecticut and to my friend’s house she suggested on Monday we go down to Harkness because it’s pretty and would be a fun place to walk around before going to dinner. Once we got to the park my friend brought us down to the water (she was secretly texting the photographer Tyler had hired to capture the whole proposal).
Once we got down to the water we took a few pictures together and then my friend said she would take one of Tyler and I but unbeknownst to me she started videoing, she said “okay one more” and that’s when Tyler got down on one knee and asked me to marry him!
