How We Met
Philip and I have known each other for 15 years. We both attended Fiorello H LaGuardia High School and he was like a big brother to me. He always had my back, listened to me when I was practicing for auditions, and supported my teenaged dreams. We somehow remained in contact all throughout college and slowly began to get closer. One night, over a really horrible dish of shrimp and cheese burritos we realized that feelings were brewing under the surface. The rest is, as they say, history.
How They Asked
I was planning a surprise weekend of birthday festivities for Philip and enlisted the help of some of my closest friends. Little did I know they were also helping to plan a surprise for me as well! As we partied at Lost Society, in Washington DC, I heard a voice that sounded REALLY familiar. My mom was singing Happy Birthday to Phil, which was strange considering SHE DOESN’T LIVE IN DC! As soon as I heard her singing I knew what was happening and I lost it! The tears! It was like a water main break in the middle of Time Square! There wasn’t a dry eye in the entire building. My best friend proposed to me on his 30th birthday.
