how we met
While we were both in college, Austin and I worked part time jobs in the dietary department at a community hospital near our homes. We initially started hanging out in a group of friends when Austin casually asked for my number. It didn’t cross my mind at all that he was interested in me so I brushed it off. Eventually we started talking more and got dinner together, just the two of us. We got dinner then hung out at home and watched The Office. It was simple and perfect!
how they asked
We had been planning a vacation to South Beach for a couple months. We were super excited because we hadn’t been on a real vacation in years. It was our first night there and we had dinner at a nice restaurant and decided to go for a walk on the beach to watch the sunset. The whole setting was super nice but I never imagined Austin would propose at the time. We had been together for 4 years and talked about it but never discussed a timeline, I just knew he was waiting until I finished school so anytime was fair game. Plus there were way too many people around at the time, and he knows I would never have wanted it to be in a public space.
As we were walking, we stopped to have someone take our picture in a secluded area. As that was happening, Austin turned to me and started telling me how special the last four years together have been and I totally lost it after that. I was so shocked and overwhelmed with emotion that I couldn’t get any words out. The person taking the picture also couldn’t believe that was actually happening. They were so happy to be able to capture that moment for us. Austin says we got super lucky to have found that quiet little spot or he probably wouldn’t have done it that night!
