How We Met
Kyle and I met on Tinder, 5 years ago. After we both swiped and matched, we immediately started up a conversation and the interest in each other grew pretty quickly.
After talking all day, every day, for a week, we finally met in person and shared our first kiss within 2 minutes of the meeting. Our first date lasted about 10 hours. Fast forward 5 years, 1 house and a puppy later, and we are engaged to be married!
How They Asked
It was a Monday evening, and a week prior, he had told me that we would be attending a work dinner at the Calgary Saddledome. I thought nothing of it because work dinners were pretty normal with his occupation – he is a Premium Sales Executive for the Calgary Flames. As we got inside the arena, with me still fully expecting a work dinner, he mentioned that they were doing auditions for the national anthem and they had the red carpet laid out on the ice from the day before, so we should go down and take a photo. As we walked out onto the ice, I noticed not only a red carpet but two Zambonis on either side and his coworker in the stands holding a camera, as well as a GoPro set up in the goalie box to record the whole proposal.
The next thing I knew, he was taking my hands and getting down on one knee, presenting the most gorgeous custom designed ring that he spent a year putting together. Needless to say, I totally blacked out through the tears of happiness and overwhelming emotion, and don’t remember a word he said – I had to double-check with him to make sure I said yes!
He had thought of everything. He made sure I would have photos and videos to look back on and spent months planning the most special and perfect proposal. Who knew that one day I would be proposed to on center ice at the Saddledome!! Our wedding was originally planned for October of 2020, but due to the Covid-19 pandemic, we made the decision to postpone until April 2021. Another year of being engaged to the most thoughtful, selfless, and incredible man I’ve ever met.
