How We Met
I didn’t know anything about him except that his name was Jeremiah and he was a wrestler, but t knew that we’d be friends the minute I saw his Atlanta Braves shirt with Freddie Freeman’s number on the back- I love the Braves and had the exact same shirt. It was meant to be. That was two years ago at our college at an intramural game. I wasn’t even going there at the time, but would transfer over the summer. On move in day, Jeremiah and I ended up eating lunch together with a couple of other friends, and once school started, it became a regular thing. He was attractive and super funny, but I didn’t necessarily think that we would date. The more we hung out, the more I realized I wanted to spend more and more time with him and he felt the same way, so a couple of months later, we made it official!
Jeremiah was a wrestler, and I really liked that because I had been the manager of my high school wrestling team but didn’t do it after high school because our school didn’t have a wrestling team. The semester before I transferred in, the school started the wrestling program, which led Jeremiah to transfer from his previous school. That first time eating lunch together we talked about me possibly being the manager off the team, and it ended up working out where I could do it. This is let us spend even more time together enjoying something we both loved.
Fast forward to November 27, 2016. Jeremiah and had been dating for close to a year and a half at this point, and we had expressed to each other that we were in it for the long run and ready to get married after our college graduation. I was so in love with him (and still am even more now) and knew he was the one who God made for me. I had no idea what I thought a regular day in Atlanta was going to bring for me…
how they asked
It was just like any Sunday, we attended church that morning together and were planning to meet up with another couple that we are friends with. He told me that they had wanted us to hang out together because we don’t get to see each other that often, and of course I was excited. I was even more excited when he told me what we’d be doing that day: he said we’d be going to the Sun Dial in Atlanta and going ice skating- two things I had been dying to do. We ate at the Sun Dial and it was amazing, and we headed to Centennial Olympic Park to go ice skating. After ice skating, we walked around the park for a long time (he was trying to find the best spot for his plan), then we headed to go get a snack because everyone wanted to wait until dark to see the Christmas tree in the park lit up because we knew it would make good pictures. After nightfall, we headed back and took pictures at the tree, and when our friend was taking a picture of the two of us, I looked over and Jeremiah was going down on one knee and got out a black box with the most beautiful ring in it. Of course I said yes! I was so excited and overwhelmed that the love of my life wanted to marry me. After the proposal, he told me the story behind my ring. His father passed away three years back, and the ring he had given me had the diamond from the ring his dad had given his mom. She gave him the diamond and he got the ring custom made for me. It means so much and is so special to both of us. I’m so thankful to have been blessed with such a wonderful man and can’t wait to spend the rest of our lives together!
