How We Met
We were neighbors growing up & lived four houses away from each other. We have known each other since we were six years old and childhood best friends. My family moved three hours away to Seattle from eastern Washington when I was twelve — I never got a chance to say goodbye. Until, Joshua’s parents asked what he wanted for his twelfth birthday and he said, “take Cammie to a mariners game”. So, this was our “first date”.
How They Asked
We planned our trip to Europe to travel for the first time internationally together. We picked Switzerland because of the stunning scenery and one of my close friends lives there. Prior to our trip, I had reached out to my friend to see if she would be willing to do a couple’s photoshoot.
The night before our couples photoshoot Joshua kept giving recommendations on where we should go in the mountains for our photos. At first, I thought it was a little odd and then thought maybe he just cared more than I would have anticipated.
We spent the morning taking photos in the town of Thun for a few hours and then made our way up to the Niederhorn. The Niederhorn is a peak of the Emmental Alps in the Bernese. From its summit, Lake Thun and the entire Bernese Alps can be seen. We were standing on a cliff for a photo and all of a sudden he gets down on one knee and asked me to marry him (with a well-prepared speech I can’t remember). I was in tears and said YES!
Little did I know that prior to me setting up the couples photo shoot he already had reached out to Sabrina to help with the proposal & to capture it.
