Camille and Seth

How We Met

We met in church. We were in high school and I had a crush on him, but he had a lot of girl-friends, so I didn’t think anything would happen between us. After about two years of being acquaintances, he started making a move, and putting some effort into spending time with me and getting to know me, we clicked very fast, and the rest is history.

How They Asked

We have been together for 3 years. We’ve been doing long distance for a little over a year, so you better believe I was ready to get engaged.

I met Ashley Dye at the beginning of 2020 before I had booked anything wedding related but I knew right then I wanted her to be my photographer. So I booked her. I booked her for my unplanned wedding, and then I just hoped that Seth would propose soon. The summer felt like a great time for him to propose because he was home from college and we had a lot of time to be together. I gave him Ashley’s information and told him that if he wanted me to say yes, Ashley had to be there. I was half joking, but only half. For a few weeks I was convinced he would propose on our anniversary. A little under a week before the date, Ashley posted on her instagram that she was going on vacation for the following week, and I was crushed. I had been expecting to get engaged for weeks, and then I found out she’d be gone, which must’ve meant Seth wasn’t gonna propose. Two days before, Seth told me he had ordered my custom-made ring online a month before, but due to covid-19, they hadn’t made it yet. That’s when I was sure there was no proposal happening anytime soon, which I later found out was true! My ring was shipped on July 6th, and got to his house on July 7th! He barely got to see it before the proposal. The long awaited day finally came around, our dating anniversary, and I was so sassy because I kept thinking this was supposed to be the day we got engaged but it’s “just our anniversary”, poor Seth. We spent the whole day together, we stopped at his house for me to fix my hair before dinner, and his mom was trying to act like everything was ordinary and calm, when in reality she was stressing to make sure our night was perfect. She was also stressing out because it had been raining all day, and the whole proposal was taking place outside. Before dinner I had an eyelash fall, and we made wishes, I wished for no rain and that someway somehow he would propose to me. When the night was over, I told him my wish came true, and he said his did too, when I asked him what he wished, he said “I wished that your wish would come true” *insert crying emoji* We ate dinner, and the sky cleared up. No more rain. after dinner, Seth told me we were headed to pick up my anniversary gift. I got really confused because what kind of gift needs to be picked up?! As we got closer to the location, I realized we were driving up to where we dreamed of getting married. We listened to our song (Take the World by Johnnyswim) as we were pulling up to the gift shop on Amelia Island. When the song was over we got out of the car and I was SO confused. We walked over to a little sidewalk and there was a golf cart conveniently placed in the middle of an empty parking lot. Seth walked towards it and got in, saying we were going on a ride. At this point my brain is so confused trying to figure out how in the world he’s pulling this off when I was 100% sure there was no way he’d propose on that day specifically because Ashley was out of town? He stopped at hole 18 on the golf course and there was this beautiful set up, made by my amazing future mother in law, Allison. I was shocked, he really did pull it off, and it was AMAZING. We walked to the setup, he got on one knee, and said “Will you marry me?” Of course I said yes. And then he asked “are you sure?”, to which I responded “yes, I am really sure”. It was the most magical moment of my entire life. Everything was perfect. I remember sitting there and wanting to freeze time. Just sit there and be with my best friend forever, looking at the sunset, my gorgeous ring, and my hot fiancé.
