How We Met
We met at Detroit pride in 2017 after matching on Tinder during Ferndale pride. Cameron was working at a booth for a local LGBTQ+ non-profit, Affirmations, and after he was done with his shift we spent the day together with my friends. We watched local artists and saw BenDeLaCreme perform.
How They Asked
I have loved the Little Mermaid since I was a kid, and I even have a tattoo of her on my calf. We had a trip scheduled to visit his aunts and uncles in Florida in February of 2019. While visiting his family in Tampa, he suggested we go to Disney. While we were on the Little Mermaid ride I thought he might ask me, but that didn’t happen. We ended up going on a few more rides while we were there, and our last stop of the night was a Meet & Greet with Ariel. I had mentioned that I wanted to get a picture with her alone before we did one together because she was my favorite princess. While I was talking to Ariel, Cameron walked over and said “I was hoping that Ariel might help me ask to be a part of your world” as he got down on one knee to ask me to marry him. It was absolutely the most perfect way someone could propose and we got it all in pictures and a family behind us actually started recording when they realized what was happening.
