Caitlin and Calvin

She Said Yes

How We Met

My friend, Sadie, had recently started dating a guy named Andrew. Sadie invited me to her birthday party and I really didn’t want to go but I felt obligated to go anyways. So we got all dolled up and met everyone at a hotel before leaving together. When I arrived I realized Sadie was the only person I knew! I never even met her new boyfriend. So she did a quick introduction and I mixed up a few people. I thought Andrew friend, Calvin, was her boyfriend. I was in shock when Andrew walked over to Sadie and planted a big wet kiss on Sadie. After that embarrassment Calvin made it his mission to make sure I had fun and enjoyed my night. We hit it off from there.

how they asked

Every year Calvin and I plan a vacation to visit our friends Wes and Crystal from Phoenix, AZ to Littleton, CO. So we booked a plane and planned a snowboarding trip over Valentine weekend. We both agreed not to get each other a gift. We decided the vacation was going to be our gift to us. Calvin always said he would never propose on a holiday or a birthday. He said it was too corny and to obvious. I never would have suspected it coming. The day after we arrived we left Littleton, CO and headed off to Loveland, CO for snowboarding. We went on a few slopes before decided to take a break and eat lunch. We went to the top of one of the ski lifts where they had a cute little lodge that was serving food. The boys disappeared after announcing they were going to use the bathroom. Crystal and I wondered over to the balcony of this lodge where you had a gorgeous view! I wasn’t use to seeing so much snow and big beautiful mountains! When Calvin came back I noticed he was playing our song ‘Only You Can Love Me This Way’ by Keith Urban. He nervously grabbed my hand and told me he loved me. I told him I loved him too and looked him up and down like he was crazy. I thought he was acting weird and didn’t know what was going on. He then went down on one knee and pulled out the ring. I started crying and cant remember most of what he said before and after “Will you marry me?”. He pinned a sign on my back that said “I said Yes!” and I was informed I needed to wear it the rest of the day. He even snuck some Champagne past me and had it ready to celebrate. When we walked into the lodge to get our lunch everyone inside started congratulating us and said they watched the proposal from the window. Calvin really thought of everything!
