How We Met
Bradley and I met on May 15, 2010 on a houseboat party. It was a night like most, several friends sitting around a table telling jokes and stories. I arrived to the party with a mutual friend at the time. Brad says he couldn’t help but feel an immediate connection and found himself staring at the beautiful redheaded girl for hours. He couldn’t help but notice I couldn’t stop staring at him either. I blew it off and thought it was all imagined, but the next day I received a message from him asking me for my phone number and to hang out again. I agreed, thinking it couldn’t hurt anything. As the weeks went by, Brad would go to my house. We would stay up all night watching movies or talking. Brad would stay over until 3 or 4 am even though he had to be at work by 6 am, simply because we couldn’t get enough of each other. Although we had been seeing each other for several weeks, we decided to make our relationship official on August 18, 2010. Our actual first date would follow soon after on August 29, 2010 , across the state line to the Memphis Zoo. It was a long drive for our first date, but worth every second. Now five years have passed. Our relationship has been tested, We’ve seen the very worst of each other, but also seen the best. Together we have grown and bring out the good in each other. We couldn’t possibly imagine our lives without one another and our crazy, stupid, love story has only made us that much more certain that we want to spend the rest of our lives together.
how they asked
October 14, 2015: A seemingly average Wednesday afternoon, I came home from work in my scrubs to find Brad waiting on our front porch. He looked at me with a smile. He told me to go get ready for dinner and to put on a dress. Once I finished getting ready, Brad told me that we were going to pick up some food from Outback and take it on a picnic. Brad wouldn’t tell me where the picnic was. He told me it was somewhere close and convenient so we could visit it anytime, but he assured me that the owners wouldn’t mind us having a picnic there. After picking up our dinner, we began our journey to the picnic. Much to my confusion, we drove back to our house. As we got out, Brad took me to the porch on the side of the house. Brad had set up our dining room table on the patio. Complete with candles, a white table cloth, and a vase of my favorite sunflowers. Brad also set up our iHome to play Jack Johnson Pandora station. I thought Brad might be up to something at this point, but we continued to eat and talk. After a while, I decided it was just a nice date night for the two of them. Then, Brad got up from the table and got down on one knee next to me. He said “You know I love you more than anything in the world, so will you marry me?” Full of happiness and excitement, I said yes! The rest is history.
