How We Met: We actually met on Facebook. I was looking through my best friend’s friend’s list and I came across Steven’s profile and immediately asked for the low down on him. She had known him when she was a teenager hanging out at the lake during the summer and said I should give it a shot. I instantly added him. We spent months liking each other’s post and pictures till finally I couldn’t take it anymore and I messaged him, what did I have to lose right? I simply asked “do I know you?” knowing good and well that I didn’t and that he didn’t know me and it worked! He messaged me back and we started talking after that. Our actual first date was a couple of weeks later when he came into town from work. We played golf that morning then had lunch and even went to a movie with his friends that night. He asked me to be his the next day and it’s.. has been amazing ever since!
how they asked: A few months before the proposal Steven told me that his mom wanted all of us to be free 12/13/14 for family pictures that morning. I thought nothing of it, even when she asked me to pick out the coordinating colors. That morning we got up and got ready then headed to meet up with everyone and head to the lake area. Everyone was acting normal and again I didn’t think anything of it. We had talked about getting engaged after we had been together for a little longer, at least a year, but Steven had other plans, ones I’m very thankful for. We started at one spot of the lake area and took family pictures and couple pictures then we moved down to a more secluded woods area. Each couple in our family took turns getting their pictures made till it was finally our turn. We stood ready to smile but then Steven’s mom interrupted us and came over to fix my hair. It was a foggy morning so my curled hair had lost some of its bounce and I was sure it looked awful. She turned me around and pulled me to the side and started fixing it all while giving me this look like my hair was dyed pink or something but she assured me it looked great. She took forever to fix it and at one point I actually thought ” What if he’s down on one knee when I turn around?” I quickly squashed that idea because I didn’t want to get my hopes up. Steven’s mom was finally done so I turned around and let out a scream, there he was, the love of my life down on one knee with the most beautiful ring I had ever seen!! chocking back tears he said “Cadie you know I love you, will you marry me?”
I quickly said yes and he slipped the ring on my finger. Everyone cheered and the photographer was snapping away as we hugged and kissed each other. As I looked at everyone I noticed some people coming up the trail and it was my parents and his grandparents. I started to cry because I was so happy that they were all there to celebrate with us. Turns out he had been planning the proposal for months and wanted it specifically on 12/13/14 because it was a once in a lifetime date. I’m so glad we have the pictures and video to remind us of that magical day.
