How we met
We met in college at Slippery Rock University, through mutual friends.
how they asked
Tyler did a lot of planning and improvising for our proposal. He did it 2 days after Christmas (After asking my parents permission in secret when we visited on Christmas Day). He had bought me my first Canon camera for Christmas that year, so he planned a trip to Phipp’s Conservatory “so I could practice using my new camera”. He invited another couple that we are friends with, who have some experience with photography so they could “help teach me how to use my camera”.
I bought into all of it not knowing that he had secretly planned on proposing outside at Phipps by the Christmas light display. Unfortunately, we didn’t make a reservation so when we arrived there was over an hour wait to get inside the conservatory, and the line to wait was outside in single digit temperatures. Not knowing his plan, I quickly decided I wasn’t going to wait out in the cold. Luckily he is quick on his feet and came up with the idea to go to Market Square in downtown Pittsburgh instead so I could get pictures of the decorations around town. When we got there I was in my own world trying to take pictures so I didn’t think twice when he told me to give my camera to one of our friends so they could get a picture of us in front of the ice skating rink.
I looked at him thinking we were going to pose for a picture, but instead he got down on one knee. Fully documented thanks to our friends taking photos, which I realized later was also part of the plan the whole time.
