How We Met
Not all love stories begin with love at first sight. Not all of them are planned. That’s the best thing about Shae and my relationship; it wasn’t love-at-first-sight and it definitely happened when we both least expected it to.. and that’s what makes it the greatest thing to ever happen to me. We may not always understand God’s plan, but he sure knew what he was doing we he placed Shae Mnichowski and me at Victory University together in the fall of 2013.
EASY is one of the words I use to describe our relationship from the beginning until even now- from our first text messages to our first date, to falling in love, to meeting each other’s crazy family’s (which are very big, I might add) to living together, to adding distance to our relationship, to planning this wedding, the list goes on- everything has always been so easy for us. I never truly believed that one exact person was made for you and you only until I met Shae, and then I knew my purpose.
how they asked
I was in my last semester of Physical Therapist assistant school- the first week back I might add- it was Friday, the 13th of January 2017. My fiancé, my sister, her husband, my nephew and I all planned to go to the Peabody Hotel in Memphis, TN at 5 pm to see the ducks March since my fiancé isn’t from Memphis and he had never seen it. The plan was for us all to go watch the ducks because we knew my nephew would love it and then all go eat at Texas de Brazil next door after we hung out a little bit. I am exhausted from going to school all day because I had 3 tests that day and studied all night long, FYI. I end up having to meet them there because I was at school so late and just got ready there. We get to the hotel and watch the ducks March out and then decide to take pictures in front of the beautiful fountain there.
My sister took a picture of us and then called my name and that was when Shae Mnichowski got down on one knee in front of 200 people and asked me to be his forever. My sister got the most perfect pictures of the moment ever! After I said yes, I heard my name being screamed from the 2nd-floor balcony of the hotel. ALL of our close family was there to witness our special moment. That was definitely my favorite part, and quite impressive I might add of my fiancé to be able to get all of my family together in one place on time! We all went to eat after and got to celebrate our engagement together and I don’t think I slept all weekend long. It turns out, Friday, the 13th isn’t so unlucky after all! :)
