How We Met
Gabe and I met playing ultimate frisbee in college. He played for our school’s men’s team and I played for the women’s team. Despite running in the same circles, we never met until we joined a summer frisbee league.
We ended up on the same team and immediately hit it off. On our first date (three weeks later), he drove an hour to take me to a jazz concert at the zoo. We had a picnic on the lawn and listened to jazz music, and it was perfect.
How They Asked
In college, I had a startup. Gabe carved me a wooden bee (our logo) to celebrate our launch. I’ve brought it with me to every apartment since then. We bought a house in May and spent a few weeks moving things over. We brought a few boxes over one night, and Gabe asked me to measure something in the closet.
I opened it and there was my bee, with “will you marry me?” carved onto the back. I turned around and there he was with a ring. After a lot of tears (on my end), we had a celebrated with champagne on our balcony–sitting on the same picnic blanket we used on our first date.
