Brittany and Andrew
How We Met
Andrew and I met in 1999 at St. Aloysius preschool in the small town of East Liverpool, Ohio. After attending different elementary schools, our friendship rekindled in middle school where we shared the same friend group and became much closer. The summer before our freshman year, Andrew and I spent a lot of time together and I could tell that he had a crush on me. Andrew asked me to be his girlfriend on November 3, 2009. We were best friends throughout high school, attended the same university, and have been together now for almost 8 years!
how they asked
Andrew and I are both coming to the end of our college years and decided to take a trip to the beach for our spring break. We had the trip planned months in advance and were looking forward to a nice little getaway! We left on a Friday and got to the beach the next day for our week-long vacation in Hilton Head, South Carolina. We spent the first few days laying on the beach and sightseeing around the island. One night, Andrew suggested that we go to a local tiki bar right on the beach to relax and listen to some music and have a few drinks. We got ready and walked down to the beach towards the tiki bar. While we were walking down by the water, Andrew pulled the ring box out of his back pocket and said, “What are you doing for the rest of your life?” Needless to say, I was so shocked and couldn’t believe it was happening!
I didn’t even know how to react when he got down on one knee and asked me to marry him! Of course, I said YES! I didn’t cry at first because I was so shocked but I was so happy that he chose to do it on the beach. Little did I know that he had been planning the proposal for over SIX MONTHS and even hired a photographer to be there for the moment he popped the question! I absolutely love the beach and always dreamed of getting engaged there. We had some pictures taken after he proposed and I’m so grateful that he thought to capture our special day. We spent the rest of our vacation relaxing and celebrating our engagement. I’m so excited to spend the rest of my life with my best friend!
