How We Met
Mark and I met at a grocery store. I used to work in the deli, and every time he came in he would stare at me. I found out his friend worked at the store, so I asked him who he was. I found him on Facebook (ah, the perks of social media) and we began talking on there. It was a couple of years later before we actually started dating, but I think I also knew he’d be the guy I married.
How They Asked
Every year, my dad’s neighborhood throws a themed party. It starts with a collection of canned food for our local soup kitchen, and later on, everyone gets together for a potluck in the cul de sac. The theme that year was the 80’s, so Mark and I decided to dress up as Slash and Axl. While we were sitting in someone’s yard, our song “Shook Me All Night Long” came on.
I started telling my dad how it was our song and how we rock it at every wedding when it plays. Suddenly, my sister, my dad’s girlfriend and two neighbors came walking out with signs that said: “will you marry me?”. There wasn’t an ounce of me that was expecting to be proposed to that night (especially dressed like Slash and Axl) but I wouldn’t have had it any other way.
