How We Met
So it was five and a half years ago. I was ready to give up on seeking a relationship and just let it happen naturally, waiting for my match.com subscription to run out only to find out the hard way that they automatically renew and withdraw money for another year unless you cancel your membership. Once I got past the initial frustration at my failure to read the fine print, I decided to revisit my profile out of curiosity. That was the day I saw him. We were compatible and he was oh-so-cute. We spent that entire night exchanging messages, moved to texting the next day, talked on the phone the following day, and met the day after that. October 6, 2011. The day I met the man that would change my life forever.
how they asked
This past January, we took a 3-day trip to the North Shore in Minnesota, visiting Grand Marais, Lutsen, and Duluth. Our first morning there, we woke up to a spectacular view of Lutsen Mountains. He went snowboarding while I went to get a massage, which he so generously paid for. We met up just before lunchtime to take the gondola up to the top of Moose Mountain. We enjoyed a great lunch at the Summit Chalet, overlooking beautiful Lake Superior then hiked to the Mystery Overlook where there were breathtaking views of the mountains. After taking it all in , he looked at me and said, “You know it’s funny, it feels like we’re so close to heaven up here but I feel like that everyday with you.” I giggled and before I realized what was happening, he pulled the ring out of his pocket and asked, “Will you marry me?” Best. Day. Ever.
