How We Met
I met my best friend while attending the University of South Carolina. He is two years younger than me so at first he didn’t stand out. But when he came up to my friend and I, I noticed how beautiful his eyes are. They are a seafoam green and he has eyelashes women dream of. After I commented on their beauty, we talked for about an hour then parted ways without exchanging information. A few weeks later, that same friend had connected us. She asked each of us individually if we would be interested in attending a Greek Life event together. After we each said yes, she provided him with my phone number and he reached out that same day. I attending his final formal and we have been together since.
How They Asked
It was early Saturday morning, just after sunrise, when we arrived at the Tidal Basin in Washington DC for the Cherry Blossom festival. I thought we were planning to meet friends there to walk around, drink coffee, and get cute pictures. To my utter surprise my fiancé got down on one knee and asked me to marry him. First, I noted how beautiful the cherry blossoms were and that is when he said, “and so is our relationship” before elaborating on how much he loves me.
Obviously I said yes, and then he stood to give me a hug and kiss before putting the ring on my finger. Finally, he told me to turn around and smile for the camera. James has treated me like a princess throughout our relationship, and he certainly gave me a fairytale proposal. I’m the luckiest girl in the world!
