How We Met: Gabriel and I met in the sixth grade (precious, right?) We instantaneously became best friends. We were inseparable, and perfectly opposite. Apparently he liked me from the very start but never actually told me until the week before our high school graduation. Well, I didn’t quite feel the same way – Awkward. I didn’t know what to do. So, I pretended like it never happened. Ignorance is bliss! Well, we went to college together, and I started dating other people. He did too. He actually went out with one of my best friends. Pretty sure he did it on purpose, but he still won’t admit to it. When I saw them together right before their date, lets just say, I was ready to throw down. It was at that moment I realized why I was being so possessive. I broke it off with the guy I was seeing and well, long story short, college days are over, and sorry Rachel, he’s mine:)
how they asked: As far as I knew, Gabriel, his parents, and I were just headed to enjoy a lovely day at Disneyland. His parents are infatuated with good ‘ole Walt, and repeatedly told me they would make me fall in love too! You see, if you know me, you know I’m not much of a Disney person. I know, I know. Crazy, right? But they were determined to make me love Disneyland. The first ride we headed to was the log ride! His mom kept saying how she didn’t want to get wet, and after 50minutes of waiting in line, she and her husband bailed. Little did I know, this was all part of the plan! After getting completely soaked, we headed out to go “looking” for his family.
When we got to the middle of the parks, he began getting extremely serious! He suddenly stopped, looked at me, and said, “Do you trust me?” I was super confused, but assured him that I did. “Can I have your hand?” Cleverly I said, “Which one?” He gave me this crazy cheesy smile and at that moment I had a feeling something incredible was about to happen! And well, from then on, I have nooooo idea what he said. I know. I know. One of the most important days of my life, and it’s all a fascinating blur! All I remember is him kneeling on one knee, and OUR ENTIRE FAMILY running towards me holding up signs that said, “BRIT MARRY ME?”
Yep!! He somehow coordinated both our families to be there – even my brother from Texas! We both are very much family-oriented people, so it meant the WORLD that he was able to incorporate both our families into our story! Such a great surprise!
I spent the whole day cheesing up a storm! I couldn’t believe this day had finally come! He’s been my best friend for 11 years, and now he would be my husband forever. I love him, and I now love Disneyland. His parents couldn’t be happier!
