how we met – brittany

We met on December 6th at a gathering in the small town of Jarrell, Texas. The morning of the gathering I texted one of my cousins and asked him to bring one of his “cute” friends and he brought Coleby. When I first saw Coleby I thought he was so handsome! It was love at first sight. We spent the whole night together, talking, laughing, and getting to know each other. I never wanted the night to end. we went on our first official date to the trail of lights in Austin, Texas on the 9th. It had only been 3 days but I knew that he was the one for me. We just clicked. I was still a Junior in high school and he had already graduated, he was so mature and I loved it. We have been together ever since that night and we just continue to fall more in love everyday.

It was December 6th 2014 and my best friend brought me along to a family get together that night. Once we got there he introduced me to Brittany. Wow! I thought, love at first site. I never had that feeling before. We talked, laughed and cuddled under the stars on that cold December night. I could not wait to take her on a official date. We continued to talk and I got to know her and her family. On December 9th I took her to the trail of lights in Austin. It was our first official date. As we walked and looked at the lights I was too distracted by her beauty to pay attention the lights. I couldn’t stop gazing into her eyes. I just wanted that first kiss. After that night I was in love and I knew I was going to marry her one day.

JULY 3rd. The most romantic, exciting, and beautiful day of my life. After 19 months together this is the day my best friend and boyfriend became my Fiancé. Coleby and I took a trip to Washington D.C to visit his brother and sister-in-law. Vanessa, his sister-in-law is a wonderful photographer and she wanted to take pictures of us at the Lincoln memorial. But Coleby had behind the scenes planning involved with this photo shoot. It was such a gorgeous day outside and Coleby looked so handsome, all dressed up so nice. As we were taking pictures Coleby got down on one knee and asked “will you marry me”. Tears starting flowing and I said “YES YES YES”. The ring was amazing and his smile was melting my heart. I fell in love with him even more right there in that moment. I have dreamed of this day since I was a little girl, about who I would marry and how he would ask. Coleby is the man of my dreams. I’m so excited to become a WIFEY!

I have been preparing for this day for months. It started with a very nervous talk with Brittany’s dad and grandpa. Oh man I was sweating bullets. Thankfully they were very proud and supportive. From there I knew it was time to plan. First I would need a ring. I knew the right one that would look amazing on her finger, of course one in a style that she liked. Then what would be better then a double surprise the with a couple photo session. I only know the best photographer around. Even better, she’s my sister-in-law. I had to think long and hard on time and place, phew I was nervous just planning it. Then I thought of a place that means a lot to both of us. The Washington D.C. Mall, only the most historical place in the United States. The day came on July 3rd and we were going for the “photo session”. Wow she looked gorgeous all dressed up. The Lincoln memorial was so white and beautiful. About half way In with the photo shoot, I found the right spot. I just went for it. As I was going down on one knee, before words came out. She was already shaking and crying in joy. Totally lost for words. I asked her to marry me. She stuttered out three yeses. I knew it was going to be forever, as I kissed her in a big accomplishment and excitement.
