How We Met
Bill and I are both graduates of Eastern Connecticut State University, but it wasn’t until December 23, 2013, or as many know it “Christmas Eve Eve”, that our paths crossed. Looking back on that day, I would say it was nothing short of being in the right place at the right time. What was supposed to be a girl’s night out to Mohegan Sun turned into so much more. From the moment we met, I knew that there was something about him. His inviting personality and quirky sense of humor had me smiling all night. One ‘Merry Christmas’ text from him later and here we are!
How They Asked
Bill and I had been planning a long weekend trip to Marco Island, Florida for a few months. We were so excited to take a much-overdue trip and escape the New England weather that we accidentally booked our trip over Easter weekend. After several flight delays and a night full of driving we arrived at our hotel around 4 AM.
After spending a perfect day in the sun, we decided to get ready and walk around the resort before dinner. We headed back over to the beach to check out the sunset and I asked Bill if we could take a quick photo together. That’s when he suggested we go down by the water to get a better shot with the ocean in the background.
Normally, I would have been on board, but because of the storms from the night before the wind was crazy and I didn’t want to go any further. After a few windblown selfies later I was ready for dinner! Bill insisted that we take one more photo just to ‘be sure’ we got a good one. After taking what I thought was our last photo, I started joking about how I was crying from the wind blowing into my eyes when all of the sudden he said “I’ll give you another reason to cry,” got down on one knee, and asked me to marry him. Through all of the shaking and the tears – I said YES to spending the rest of my life with my best friend.
