Britni and Sonny
How We Met
One Sunday night in July of 2014, I visited my parents church for the first time. My stepdad was leading worship when my mom came up to me, nudged me in the arm, and pointed out the piano player. “See that guy? He’s cute, isn’t he? His name is Sonny, and he’s single. Just in case you wanted to know.” I laughed, and tried to brush her off, but from the moment on I couldn’t take my eyes off of him. I went home, waited the appropriate 5 days, and then added him on Facebook. Once he accepted my friend request I waited, hoping he would message me. However, a few days went by and I hadn’t heard anything from him. So I forced myself out of my comfort zone and messaged him first. We ended up talking until 4 in the morning. During our first conversation, he asked me to go on a date with him, and I said yes. 6 days later, we met for the first time on our first date. The rest is history!
how they asked
I found out the week he proposed that I made straight A’s in my final semester of my sophomore year in college. He told me he wanted to go out to celebrate, which I thought nothing of. We went to Nashville for what I thought was just dinner, but he had other plans. I’ve always been in love with the idea of horse-drawn carriages, so when he asked if I wanted to ride, I was elated! We toured the streets, and when we were about to finish our ride, he asked someone to take our picture. He asked me to stand up, told me how much he loved me, and got down on one knee as the cameraman started taking pictures. After a few seconds of shock, I finally managed to get the word “Yes” out of my mouth.
